In 2006 the Formula Renault UK Championship once again forms part of the BTCC support package. It will appear at eight of the ten BTCC meetings, with the other two dates being the 'Scottish Renault Festival' at Knockhill in July and the Renault World Series support package at Donington Park in September.

The Formula Renault UK Championship is a proven training ground for the future stars of world motorsport, with the likes of McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen, Antonio Pizzonia and several of the inaugural A1GP field passing through the championship. The drivers of the identical 2 litre 16 valve Tatuus-built cars will enjoy two races at every BTCC meeting in 2006. A bumper field is expected, with many teams fielding at least three or four cars. As well as the prestigious main title, there is also the Graduate Cup to race for, which is contested by newcomers to the series, as long as they are under 19 years of age.

2005 Summary

Oliver Jarvis won the title for Manor Motorsport and finished off the year by claiming the McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award too. He was pushed hard by Canadian Sean McIntosh, Team aka's James Jakes and Swede Sebastian Hohental amongst others.
