Onwards and upwards for Plato

Jason Plato’s late entry into the 2009 BTCC is great for the championship. Not least because the 2001 champ is great for a soundbite.

There’s no prizes for guessing what he was describing as, “the dullest thing in the world. It doesn’t turn and it doesn’t stop”.

That was Plato’s controversial verdict on his diesel-powered SEAT Leon from last year.

Talking to Alan Hyde at Brands Hatch, Plato continued: “Ok, it was good to drive because it was competitive, but you didn’t get any enjoyment out of it.”

No doubt the comments on the RML-prepared Chevrolet Lacetti will be just a little more positive if he manages to put in a strong performance in qualifying this afternoon…
