Airwaves Racing celebrate at Brands Hatch

Airwaves Racing celebrate at Brands Hatch

It’s always special to start the season at Brands Hatch and we always want to do well at our home circuit. For me it was a bit of a pressure release and it was great to get some strong results.

Mat did a superb a job at Brands and I’m sure he will keep doing a superb job, which vindicates my decision to nail him down as early as possible last year to stay with us and not let him go and drive one of those Chevrolets.

Airwaves Racing - BTCC 2011

Airwaves Racing - BTCC 2011

Two press days done – Porsche and BTCC – and everything’s still in one piece!

After a long winter of wheeling and dealing – getting sponsors, getting rid of old cars, getting new cars and getting them prepared – and actually having a test programme for the first time ever in touring cars, I’m looking forward to actually going and doing a race meeting. I think it’s a lot more straightforward when you’re working to the calendar, with the occasional test day. Brands Hatch can’t come soon enough for me.

First test for the new Airwaves Racing Fords

First test for the new Airwaves Racing Fords

So, we’ve completed our first two days of running with the Fords now and all in all, I’m really pleased with how it went.

The cars ran faultlessly for the whole two days. Obviously when you take delivery of cars from another team, you rip them apart and put them back together again, but even then, you can never be sure that there won’t be some little niggling problems. We’ve had none of that with the Fords.

Steven Kane at Brands Hatch, May 2010

Steven Kane in qualifying at Brands Hatch

So, here we are after qualifying at Brands Hatch. In Carrera Cup we had a very good day. We qualified on pole in each class. Touring car wise, we’ve got a bit of work to do. I don’t quite know what happened today. We didn’t quite hit the window we were expecting to hit.

Rockingham was ok. It was nice to bank more points, it was nice to come out of the place with Airwaves BMW still leading the championship. It was nice to have two podiums.

Hitting the limit

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

Whenever we come here, I seem to be able to do a 48.9. We just cannot get past that at the moment, but the Airwaves BMW is really fantastic. I feel we can race a lot better than the Vauxhalls. I think that come the end of the race, we’ll be in much better condition than them.
