Saturday 20 September 2008 - Dick Bennetts after qualifying at Brands Hatch
Team RAC boss on his driver's pole position

It’s so tight round here. We know on the dashboard it was 49.3 and now it’s 49.297 official from Toca, so we’ll take that. We’ve been talking about next year, so maybe that was a bit of a wake up call for him. It’s great to have a Team RAC car on pole, and Colin’s on the third row, so he’s just got to keep out of mischief and we’ll see how the race pans out.

Saturday 20 September 2008 - Stephen Jelley on taking pole position at Brands Hatch
Jelley takes Team RAC's only pole position of the 2008 season

It’s mega. They didn’t believe I’d done it when I came in– it was all somber faces and they thought there was something wrong with the timing screens. I went out for my second run after we made some changes to the setup and the car was just mega. The lap before my main lap was a bit of a warm up lap and my fron tyres hadn’t quite come in and it was only a tenth off my previous best, so I knew the car was really, really quick. Then I slotted that time there, went for another one and I chucked it off at Graham Hill. They all thought I’d chucked it off on my fast lap so it must have been wrong. I came in expecting to see good faces and it was like, oh, right.

Sunday 17 August 2008 - Tom Chilton after race one at Knockhill
Tom Chilton on his first race clash with Darren Turner at Knockhill

I think Darren Turner is making too many mistakes. He just basically ploughed into me. He aimed his car at me and fired me off. I was lucky not to end up on the spectator banking. Fortunately it ended his race. He wouldn't have the balls to come and talk to me I don't think.

Sunday 17 August 2008 - Fabrizio Giovanardi after race one at Knockhill
Fabrizio Giovanardi following second place in race one at Knockhill

I felt really good in the car, so I started to push Jason. We got a good result, and also Tom, too. I really like this circuit. You have to really concentrate. It's fun. Here, there is no space - if you go off, finished.

Sunday 27 July 2008 - Rob Collard after race one at Oulton Park
Motorbase's Rob Collard after race one at Oulton Park

It was a really good result once again for the whole Motorbase team to score more points after having started further down the grid than we would have liked. I was actually a little bit frustrated at being behind Steven as I felt I was quicker and could have gone on and caught the cars ahead if I could have got past him. However, the car feels really good and if we can make a good start again in the next race then we have the pace to go and challenge the cars at the front.

Sunday 27 July 2008 - Steven Kane after race one at Oulton Park
Motorbase's Steven Kane after race one at Oulton Park

The car felt a lot better than it did in qualifying and allowed us to put in good performance by coming through from 16th. We want to go out and get an even better result in the next race, so if we can make it through the first corner without any damage we’ll see how it goes. I’ve got a few small changes in mind in terms of car set-up that I think will make it even quicker next time out.

Sunday 27 July 2008 - Fabrizio Giovanardi after third place at Oulton Park
Vauxhall's Fabrizio Giovanardi after taking third in race one at Oulton Park

The car was definitely fast today, and I am very pleased to secure third as now I will start from row two in the next race. I will really concentrate on my start for the second race, and hope that as we are carrying less ballast than the leader, we can really make an impression on the first lap.
