Slight gets first drive of Peugeot Coupe
SlightEx-World Superbike Rider Aaron Slight finally got his long awaited first drive in the Peugeot Coupe at Donington Park today, ahead of his first races for the VLR team this forthcoming weekend.

Slight's entry is being subsidised by Octagon Motorsports, and as a result, the livery combines the company's red, white and blue colours, with the distinctive yellow of the Peugeot team this season.

Rob Bain, Chief Executive of Octagon Motorsports commented, "We are delighted to sponsor Aaron in his debut Touring Car race. Octagon's goal, is to ensure great entertainment value for spectators, sponsors and the media by influencing and investing in National championships to drive British Motorsports forward.

We believe in investing in the championship to ensure the sport is strong and vibrant. We at Octagon Motorsports are interested in long-term viability in the sport, not short-term profit. Our brand of sports marketing - borne out of Octagon Worldwide's portfolio, across a diverse range of sports and leisure activity, has already started to change the face of British motorsport in this country."Slight

Slight, who started competing in 1979, has been a leader in World Superbikes aince 1992, achieving 13 race wins and consistent top three championship placings. His limited four wheeled racing career includes a touring car Tourist Trophy drive in 1997, where he qualified 7th but was punted off in the race, the 1999 Pukehohe 500 race in New Zealand, and a Super Touring test for Honda last year.

Slight commented, "Driving in the BTCC for the factory Peugeot team is a dream come true. I have always wanted to race cars and I've done a few competitive car races in the past.

I'm looking forward to this weekend at Donington very much. It has taken a long time for this deal to happen so it's a combination of excitement and relief for me as well as all the people who made the deal happen. I can't wait to mix it with the Touring Car boys!

SlightAfter more than ten years competing in Superbikes, I felt I needed a fresh challenge and changing to racing on four wheels seemed natural. I will still race bikes this year and next but will focus on racing cars long-term."

Aaron will partner regular works Peugeot 406 Coupe drivers Dan Eaves and Steve Soper at rounds 11 & 12 at Donington Park this weekend, as well as at four other meetings before the end of the season.
