Howell problems caused by cone
The cause of Gareth Howell's punctured radiator has been found to be a trackside marker bollard. Video footage has shown that the black and white plastic marker, used on numerous corners at Donington, had been knocked flat after being hit by another car. The spring mechanism at the base of the marker caused it to bounce back up, just at the wrong moment for Gareth, and it punctured the front grill on the Focus, followed by the radiator, forcing him to retire from the sprint race. The team were also unable to complete repairs in time for the feature race. Gareth will be looking to put the problems behind him at Knockhill, as team mate Mat Jackson, who qualified behind Howell, took a third place and race win in the sprint and feature respectively
