| Jim Edwards Junior has split from TCR (Total Control Racing), the team which has run him and his race winning Honda Accord this season, following safety problems at the last two meetings at Oulton Park and Croft. The team have allegedly been unable to resolve a problem which has led to petrol leaking in to the cockpit of the car, leading to this decision being made. Edwards said, "We have decided that for the sake of driver safety and reliability, changes need to be made. It is a real shame, as the reason for a long term handling problem was found just prior to the Oulton meeting and the pace of the car is now the best it has been all year, but I must have total confidence in a car to do my best with it".
Jim Edwards won the Feature race at Croft, round 18 of the championship, showing that the car/driver combination has the potential to be succesful. Edwards and sponsor, Interactive Network Solutions, will be looking to find a way to complete the championship, although at this late stage options would appear limited. One suggestion is that Edwards may renew his ties with Mark Fish Motorsport, who are returning to the TocaTour package at Silverstone, running ex-Production class driver Pete Cate in the Renault Clio Championship.
