Jason Plato is to appeal against the 30 second pentaly he was given after the feature race at Silverstone.
During the race Plato came together with Yvan Muller, which resulted in Plato winning and Muller finishing in 3rd place.
It was lated judged that Plato had gained an unfair advantage and he was given a 30 second penalty which dropped him down to 3rd place.
Platos Triple-Eight team which runs the Vauxhall Astras has not appealed against the penalty as Muller and Plato are team mates, however with the championship so finely balanced going into the next race Plato has decided to persue the case himself.
Jason Plato originally explained the incident in the BTCC Pages Forum, click here to view his post, and feels that given the new evidence, his case should be reviewed.
Going into the final race Plato leads Muller by six points. However it is expected that the appeal may well not be heard until after the Brands Hatch finale. Meaning the championship could be decided in an MSA court room rather than on the track.
