Although not yet confirmed there are strong rumours that Proton will enter a team in the BTCC next year.

Proton are a Malaysian car company and have sucessfully competed in the Asian and Malaysian Touring Car series since 1990 and are looking to make a move into the British market.

It is expected that the car they will use is the Impian, modified to a BTC-Touring 2-Litre engine.

No drivers have yet been linked to the Proton team but it is expected that more deatails will be available when the programme is officially announced in November.
