Vauxhall Motorsport have confirmed that they will again enter two works cars in the BTC-Touring class of the British Touring Car Championship.
As this year the cars will be run by Triple Eight Race Engineering. This puts an end to speculation that Vauxhall may decide not to fund a works entry in 2002. Although the deal is only for two works cars it is thought likely that 888 will want to field a two further cars in the same way they have done with the egg:sport team this season, however egg have yet to confirm if they wish to continue in the BTCC.
There is no confirmation as yet as to who will be driving the two works cars in 2002, Jason Plato and Yvan Muller drove the cars this year and will get 1st and 2nd in the championship, although the last round still remains to decide who is champion.
Vauxhall Motorsport director Mike Nicholson said "This season has been an excellent one for us, naturally we are keen to build on this success, to come back next year and defend our crown. Next year's championship looks like it will be a strong one and we are happy to be part of it."
