TOCA Tour Announces Major Support Package for 2002 Championship
British Motorsport Promoters (BMP) today announced a strong support package for the 2002 TOCA Tour. Britain’s premier motorsport series will again feature Formula Renault, but also welcomes back the ever-popular National Formula Ford Championship.
BMP has acquired the rights to run the National Formula Ford Championship for the next two years. The cars will thrill crowds with a double-header performance at eight of the ten rounds.
Renault’s ‘slicks and wings’ Formula Renault series will headline the TOCA Tour support package for the ninth year running. The Elf Renaultsport Cup will again accompany it. Both categories have provided superb action on this season’s package.
The prestigious Michelin Porsche Cup will complete an impressive line-up for 2002. A number of guest races will also appear throughout the season at selected rounds. Further details will be announced in the near future.
BTCC Series Director Richard West commented:
“We have listened to competitors and spectators throughout the year and have worked hard to put in place a support package that reflects the TOCA Tour’s position as this country’s premier motorsport division.
“We are delighted to reconfirm Renault’s commitment to TOCA, while the inclusion of Formula Ford – one of the most competitive single-seater categories in the world – is another coup. The addition of the Michelin Porsche Cup is further testimony to the strength of the BTCC and the 2002 season presents, in my belief, the best support package that TOCA has had in years.”
