Former BTC Production driver, Paul O'Neill, will partner Matt Neal at the Egg:Sport team in 2002. Speculation suggests that terms have been agreed between the two parties and that the deal will be officially confirmed in the very near future, although neither Paul O'Neill or Triple Eight Race Engineering were available to comment.

O'Neill is the first of last year's Production class front-runners to confirm a deal for 2002, however he is unlikely to be the last, so a repetition of rivalries seen last year can be expected in the Touring class throughout the season.

The deal will see O'Neill benefit from working alongside experienced drivers in the form of team-mates Matt Neal, James Thompson and Yvan Muller, as well as having the opportunity to capitalise on the technical knowledge of the Triple Eight team, in charge of preparing the Astra Coupes.
