Carl Breeze, who competed in the Formula Renault championship in 2001 is reported to have joined Team Halfords in the BTCC Touring class. If confirmed Breeze will compete in a third car alongside current Vic Lee Racing drivers Tim Harvey and Dan Eaves.
Breeze had orginally planned to continue with his Formula Renault team Motaworld Racing, but moving up to Formula 3. However these plans have now appear to have been shelved in favour of a move to touring car racing.
Team Halfords runs Peugeot 406 Coupes which were a factory Peugeot cars in the 2001 season. Since Peugeots withdrawl from the BTCC Vic Lee racing have continued to run the cars under the Team Halfords banner. Although Peugeot never fielded more than 2 cars on a regaular basis last year, only fielding a third on two occasions, however was their original intention to run three cars for the whole season.
Breeze will not be on the grid in time for the Bank Holiday rounds at Thruxton, but instead will could take to the track at the Silverstone "super weekend" on 1-3 June, and his Peugeot Coupe will carry the number 23.
