Newcomers to the BTC-Production class in 2002, Beacon Motorsport, will be moving up to the Touring class for the 2003 season.
The team will enter two cars in the top class of the championship, but are currently unable to reveal details of what model they will be using.
Beacon Motorsport Team Manager, Stuart Mason, told BTCCPages: “We will be selling our Accords during the winter to make space for our graduation to the BTC-T class next year. I am unable to say which cars we will be using, but, we have a deal in place with a manufacturer for the coming season.”
He continued, “We are hoping to retain Spencer Marsh as he has shown a great deal of maturity this season in dealing with a new category of racing and has bettered many of the times set last year with the same car. We will be looking for a competitive driver to fill the second seat.”
The team enjoyed a relatively successful debut season, with Spencer Marsh winning two races and finishing on the podium a further five times, and taking third position overall in the Production Drivers Championship. The team also finished third in the Production teams championship.
Beacon Motorsport are the second 2002 Production class team to confirm their graduation to the Touring class next year. GA Motorsport have already announced that they have purchased a pair of 2002 Vauxhall Astras from Triple Eight, which they will run in the Touring class in 2003. There remain a number of 2002 Touring class cars which could be run by independent outfits in 2003.
