WSR wins 2003 MIA Business Excellence Award for Teamwork

WSR, the race team and engineering specialist manufacturer based in Sunbury on Thames, were awarded the 2003 Motorsport Industry Association’s (MIA) Business Excellence Award for Teamwork at the annual MIA dinner held during the NEC Birmingham, Autosport International show this January. Receiving the award on behalf of WSR were the company’s Finance director Mike Ewan and Commercial Manager Tubbs Wanigasekera.

Mike Ewan said, “we feel honoured to be selected for this prestigious award and I’m happy to receive this both on behalf of Dick Bennetts, who founded the company 22 years ago, and on behalf of every member of staff at WSR, without whom we’d be less effective as a team”

The nominations for the award were: Williams F1, Renault F1, Team Ascari and WSR.

Rob Oldaker, Managing Director of MG Sport and Racing said at the Autosport Show on Thursday 9th January, "WSR are a great team for us to be working with. There is a great team spirit between MG Sport and Racing/MG Rover and WSR, and there is a good technical exchange at all levels. Whilst they are a racing team contracted to us, they do work very closely with us as a manufacturer. For both the MG works cars and the Team Atomic Kitten cars, WSR gave MG an excellent representation at all the race tracks in 2002."

In addition to being a race team, a design and manufacturing engineering business, responsible for the MG ZS BTCC race cars they ran in 2002 and are building for 2003 as well as providing a rapid prototyping engineering development service for a number of automotive engineering clients. WSR have also recently been awarded the design contract for a key new international motor racing facility.
