David Pinkney will make a return to the TocaTour package in 2003, having signed to compete in the new look Porsche Carrera Cup with Barwell Motorsport. Pinkney, who drove an Alfa Romeo 147 in the Touring class of the BTCC in 2001, tested the car at Snetterton on Friday & Saturday.
Barwell Motorsport have previous experience of Porsche race car preparation, however 2003 will mark the first entry in the Carrera Cup for both the team and Pinkney. The programme will complement Barwell’s BTCC Production plans, which sees them enter two Honda Civic Type-Rs.
Pinkney joins former Formula Ford racer, Luke Hines, as part of the Barwell setup. Hines will drive the first of the BTC-Production cars, leaving one seat in each formula still to be filled. Barwell recently completed a successful test programme at the Albacete and Cartagena circuits in Spain, where both Hines and Simon Graves completed significant distances without problems in the ex-Synchro Motorsport Civics.
