01/04/2003 - BLENCOWE JOINS BARWELL FOR BTCC PRODUCTION CAMPAIGN

Barwell Motorsport has signed Alan Blencowe to join Luke Hines in its team of BTCC Production Class Honda Civic Type Rs. This completes the Surrey outfit’s line-up for its fourth consecutive season in the BTCC.

Last year Blencowe moved up from the Ford Fiesta Challenge for his first season in the BTCC with a GA Motorsport Alfa Romeo 156. The Salisbury driver, 26, acquitted himself well by taking three podium finishes and seventh in the final Production Class championship standings.

“We are delighted to have Alan on board,” comments Barwell’s Chris Needell, “and his signing means we now have two drivers in the team capable of fighting for the championship title. Alan showed huge promise in his first BTCC season, and is sure to establish himself as one of the pace-setters this season.”

Blencowe will get his first run in the Barwell Civic at the team’s Brands Hatch test on April 11th, prior to the first BTCC event at Mondello Park over the Easter Weekend.
