Mixed fortunes for returning Fullalove
13/08/2003 - BTCCPages.com reports:

Mark Fullalove encountered mixed emotions on his return to the BTCC at Snetterton. Driving his trusty Peugeot 306, the former Lotus Elise champion claimed a second place in the first race before engine problems resulted in retirement in round 14.

Speaking exclusively to BTCCPages.com, Fullalove said, “I was pleased with the performance of the car, just a little disappointed for making a mistake in race one as it cost me the lead of the class, but with 12 laps to go I would have been hard pushed to hold of Hines anyway and he was a few tenths quicker than me each lap, but second is still not a bad result all things considered!”

He continued, “Race two was going ok, I had the lead into turn one but Boardman was on the outside into Sear and I braked to late on cold tyres and lost the back end, this allowed Tom and Luke Hines to power past on the straight. I was then comfortable in 3rd but my engine decided to put a rod through the block. So the engine was straight out of the car and down to the engine shop for Monday afternoon and should be ok for Brands Hatch, but it’s an expensive repair.”

An eventful return to the series for the 27-year old who was hoping to put the frustrations of 2002 behind him. At Brands Hatch he will be looking to continue the form that saw him out-qualify, and then the head in both races, the newer Peugeot 307 model of production class rival.
