Malaysian rising star Fariqe Hairuman had his first taste of UK motorsport last week (Thursday) with an acclimatisation run in the 2003 Team PSP Proton Impian at Snetterton, completing some 55 laps.

Team boss David Wong said: “Fariqe did all we asked of him during his first run out in the UK. He quickly settled into a rhythm at Snetterton and didn’t put a foot wrong. We weren’t expecting any meaningful times but he still put in some quickish laps; not bad for his first time with a sequential gearshift and 280 bhp through the front wheels on a track he hasn’t seen before. It’s a good start for him on a long road to the first race next season.”

Fariqe is being put through an intensive acclimatisation programme over the next three weeks, with sessions at Oulton Park, Brands Hatch, Donington, Silverstone, Croft and Knockhill.
