Barwell Motorsport continued its preparations for the 2004 BTCC season on Friday (31 October), testing an interim version of its Honda Civic Type-R at Brands Hatch.
The car, which won the Production class for Luke Hines this year, has been partly upgraded to the ETCC specifications under which team boss Mark Lemmer plans to run it in 2004. Modifications made so far include running on 17-inch wheels and upgraded suspension.
Lemmer commented “We’re running in the Britcar event here over the weekend and when we found out about the test session today, we decided to bring this car along. It’s still running the Production class engine and gearbox, but we have made much more progress than I expected. We’ve managed to get some dry running and we’ve collected some very useful data. It has been very encouraging.”
Luke Hines was at the wheel of the Civic at Brands Hatch, and will compete in the Britcar event this weekend with Mark Lemmer.
