Dan EavesDan Eaves - Reidy was on a bit of a charge! - 13/08/04

Dan Eaves was BTCC Independents Cup winner in 2002, and currently sits joint third in the 2004 HarrierZeuros sponsored standings with teammate Matt Neal, behind in form MG duo Anthony Reid and Colin Turkington. He is also seventh in the overall drivers’ championship standings.

So far this year, he has taken two Independents Cup race wins, and claimed his first outright BTCC race victory in round 11 at Oulton Park. He and Matt Neal are currently sustaining the Computeach Racing with Halfords team in third position in the teams’ championship, ahead of the Seat works team.

At Knockhill last weekend, Eaves cam close to recording his second race win in front of the live ITV cameras, as he led until the closing stages of round 21. “Unfortunately Reidy was on a bit of a charge and he managed to get through and pull away a bit”, said Eaves after Sunday’s third race. “He made a really late move at the hairpin. To be honest, I didn’t see it coming until the last minute and by that point he was almost through, so I had to let him go.”Dan Eaves

It rounded out a successful weekend for Eaves, who also took a second place in the Independents Cup in race two: “I sat behind Matt in that one. I think it’s nigh-on impossible to get three really really good results but I played the game a bit in the first race to drop back a bit and get a better grid position for the second race.”

Eaves only joined the Team Dynamics run team shortly before the start of the season, taking with him co-title sponsor Halfords. But driving a car which he sat in for the first time back at Thruxton in April, he is enjoying his most successful season to date in the BTCC, battling with the best up at the sharp end of the grid.
