Collard returns to WSR for 2010 BTCC
Tue 9th March 2010 Rob Collard will drive for West Surrey Racing in the 2010 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Collard, 41, will line up alongside Andy Neate at WSR after confirming his return to the team for whom he raced in 2005 and 2006.
Collard was widely tipped to remain with Motorbase Performance in 2010, but instead has opted to switch BMW squads.
“It was a very tough decision for me”, said Collard. “I’m sad to leave Motorbase after two good years. I have to look forward though, and this is a fantastic opportunity for me.
“I’m really excited about the new season. I think it’s going to be another tough one and there’s going to be some strong drivers on the grid. I’m sure we will be near the front of the grid and hopefully we’ll be well placed to fight for the championship. I’m raring to go - I’ve had a seat fitting and we’ll be out testing very soon.”
WSR continue to work towards running a third car for reigning BTCC champion, Colin Turkington. Meanwhile, Collard’s former team, Motorbase Performance is yet to confirm its BTCC plans for 2010.
