BTCC 2010 heads for Snetterton after summer break

The World Cup has been and gone, as has the Tour de France, Wimbledon, the 24 Heures du Mans and the Formula One British Grand Prix. It feels like a long time since Gordon Shedden scored a double win at Croft towards the end of June, but the BTCC finally returns to action next weekend.
Honda Racing Team's Matt Neal leads the points standings as the series heads to Norfolk to embark on the second half of its season, but with nine different winners in the first 15 races, there is still a very long way to go before this year's champion is crowned.
Some of the top teams and drivers from the BTCC attended an official test session at Snetterton last week and it was Team Aon's Tom Chilton who came out on top in his turbo-charged, LPG-powered Ford Focus.
Photos from the Snetterton test can be viewed here.
As well as leading the championship race, Matt Neal is the only driver to have won three times this year, while Jason Plato (Silverline Chevrolet - second, eight points behind Neal), Gordon Shedden (Honda Racing Team - third) and Tom Onslow-Cole (Team Aon – fourth) each have two victories.
Qualifying has belonged to Team Aon so far in 2010, with Chilton taking three pole positions and Onslow-Cole one. Shedden is the only other driver to have started from the front.
Snetterton's round of the BTCC in 2009 saw two wins for Fabrizio Giovanardi and one for eventual champion Colin Turkington. With neither of those on the grid this time around, we're guaranteed different winners, but who will take the spoils?
You can buy discounted tickets for Snetterton online until midday on Wednesday, 4th August by clicking here. After that, they’re available on the gate.
