Neal: ''I'm going all out for wins''

Matt Neal may be leading the BTCC Drivers’ Championship, but the Team Halfords star says he is “missing that winning feeling”, after his early season dominance was tempered by the VX Racing team at Croft and Mondello Park.

Neal won five of the season’s first 11 races, but is now without a victory since Oulton Park. Muller has scored three victories from the last six races to slash the gap from 31 points to just 13.
But Neal is confident his Team Halfords Honda Integra will be better suited to Snetterton’s high-speed lay-out than Muller’s Vauxhall Astra Sport Hatch.
Neal said: “Snetterton should be really good for the Honda and on paper this circuit belongs to me.
“I’ve driven the last few meetings with the championship in mind, trying to stay out of trouble and take some points. But that hasn’t worked and I’m missing that winning feeling. This weekend I’m going all out for race wins.”
Neal, who has never won the BTCC title, admits to being nervous in the build-up to Snetterton because afterwards comes the tight Knockhill track in Scotland that might favour the Vauxhalls.
Neal added: “I’m nervous going to Snetterton simply because I know the importance of making the most of our opportunities Yvan is reliable and so is his car and now his team-mate Colin Turkington has got his head in gear so there are two Vauxhalls to fight.
“But if everything goes to plan then we should be OK. I can’t kill off Yvan Muller this weekend but I can make things very difficult for him.”
