Better fortune for Idafar during round 10 at Croft
Formula Renault UK Championship News | Tue 16th June 2009
Hillspeed’s Menasheh Idafar emerged from an action-packed 10th round of the Michelin Formula Renault UK Championship at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire yesterday afternoon, Sunday, 14th June, as the sixth highest placed ‘Graduate Cup’ runner.

The 18-year-old, who lined up on the ninth row of the grid after posting a lap of 1m18.387 seconds (97.59mph) during qualifying on Saturday, was in the thick of the action at the lower end of the points-paying positions and battled hard to take a 17th place finish overall, just under a couple of seconds shy of the top 15.
Although slipping outside the top 20 early on, the Ortolan and Gulf Computer Services backed racer recovered well and mounted a determined drive which culminated with a good move for 17th place at the hairpin on lap 11 when he sliced by a couple of rivals who tangled and delayed each other.
“Sunday’s race was more positive than Saturday’s for Menasheh, he did have a couple of taps from other people but he finished ahead of where he started so we have to be pleased with that”, said Hillspeed team principal Richard Ollerenshaw.
“After Saturday’s race we were able to see Menasheh had picked up damage to the wood on the underside of the car when he went off at the first corner, so he actually did very well to finish the race at all and grab a point. All in all, there are positives to take from the weekend.”
There are now three weeks to wait until the 11th and 12th rounds of the 2009 Michelin Formula Renault UK Championship which will be held on 4th/5th July at Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit as part of the British round of the World Series by Renault – the only race meeting of the year which sees Formula Renault UK competing away from the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship package.
