Quartermaine to sample Carrera Cup at Donington
Porsche Carrera Cup GB News | Mon 28th April 2008John Quartermaine will sample the Porsche Carrera Cup GB during rounds five and six of the season at Donington Park on 3/4 May. The seasoned saloon car racer is looking at joining the series for selected races this season and will race the PCGB pro-am2 car for his series debut.
"I've loved the Carrera Cup for some time," said Quartermaine, who is supporting current pro-am1 championship leader Tony Gilham and the ReDesign Racing team this season. "I can't do a full season due to clashes with my existing programme, but if I enjoy the Donington weekend it's quite probable that I'll be looking for a pro-am2 car."
If Quartermaine does join the Carrera Cup on a regular basis, the ReDesign team would grow to a two-car operation. "I last raced a Porsche years and years ago," said Quartermaine, who has now been racing for 31 years. "This is an educational weekend for me and I can't say how excited I am at the prospect. I've always liked the Carrera Cup from the outside and I drive a Porsche on the road."
Quartermaine has been racing since 1977 and has enjoyed considerable success, mainly in saloon cars. More recently his son Adam has started racing and now competes in Formula Ford. "I've do so many years of racing; I just love it. It's the ultimate adrenalin buzz!"
