Neate set for Carrera Cup debut at Snetterton

Porsche Carrera Cup GB News | Mon 30th June 2008

Touring Car aspirant Andy Neate will join the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Snetterton (12/13 July) and will complete the three-car squad from Red Line Racing for at least the Snetterton event.

The 33-year old from Aylesbury has initially agreed a one-event deal, but hopes that it may be extended to cover more race weekends over the second half of 2008.

"My focus has been on getting into the BTCC and the Carrera Cup is the best way to go to try and get back to the BTCC," said Neate, who has already raced in Touring Cars. "We'll do Snetterton and then take a view; I've certainly not ruled out doing the rest of the season."

Having won the Ford Fiesta title in 2006, Neate has only tackled selected races over the last two seasons and was part of the team that finished second in the 2007 Britcar 24-Hours at Silverstone.

"I'm delighted that we've got a deal together and Snetterton is one of my favourite circuits. The drivers in the Carrera Cup are fantastic and I'm sure I can learn from my team mate Tim Harvey."
