The BBC commentary team for the 2001 BTCC season was announced at the official press launch of the series today (Monda 26th). It will include the two commentators from 2000 who will resume their commentary box role but with the addition of Dawn McDaniel who is better known as for her roles in television drama series such as Holby City and Soldier Soldier.
Similar to the role played by ITV's Louise Goodman in the Formula 1 coverage McDaniel will become a "roving reporter" aiming to find out what is going on behind the scenes at the race track and hopefully let the viewers get to know the drivers better.
Series director Richard West commented "I've known Dawn for a few years and when we were looking at the repackaging of the championship, her style and presence immediately sprung to mind. I think she'll add a new fresh dimension to the coverage of the Championship."
Dawn McDaniel added "When I was approached to work on the BTCC, I was really excited but also quite apprehensive, as it is such a departure from what I was used to. My aim is to reveal the aspect of drivers' characters that haven't been shown before so expect so see a lot more behind the scenes filming."
The line up is part of the all new for 2001 BBC package which includes full coverage of all races but does not include any live coverage unlike in previous years.
