This time last year...
This time last year…Going in to rounds 11 and 12 last year, which took place at Silverstone, Ford driver Alain Menu had a 7 point lead in the championship from team mate Reid. Rydell and Plato were jointly in 3rd position, a further 14 points down.

Rickard Rydell once again qualified on the front row for both races. And duly converted this in to the race lead in the sprint race, as Alain Menu was left on the grid due to a clutch problem. However by the end of the first lap, he had been passed by Tarquini in the Honda Accord. The Italian did not remain in the lead for long though, as he pushed just slightly too hard through Copse, and lost control of the car.

Anthony Reid and Rickard Rydell came together, forcing the Swede star in to the pit to remove damaged bodywork from his car. This allowed James Thompson through to take the race lead, which he held on to, taking his first victory of the season.

In the feature race, Rydell again led away from the start, and remained at the front until after the pit stops. A combination of good timing from the 888 team, and Muller pushing hard on a clear track, allowed the Frenchman to take the race lead once Rydell made his pit stop.

The latter laps of the race saw one of the biggest accidents of the season, as Vincent Radermecker and Anthony Reid battled going in to the Complex. Radermecker was pushed off on to the grass, before coming back on to the track at high speed. The rear of his Vectra hit the side of Reid's Mondeo, and both were forced to retire with considerable damage to the cars. Muller went on to take the race victory.
