| Peugeot Preview
The highly acclaimed F1 circuit of Silverstone, in Northampton the 'Home of British Motorsport' will this week host rounds 21 and 22 of the www.theAA.com MSA British Touring Car Championship, as the season count down begins, and the heat is now on as Peugeot challenge the might of Vauxhall.
The teams last visit to Silverstone back on the 3rd of June, watched Peugeot struggling with an unreliable car and unbelievably bad luck. Yet only four months on and the story tells a completely different tale. Not only are Peugeot on top form, having experienced a break through in geometrical changes, also engine improvements have finally reached there potential. Previously at Oulton Park Peugeot fans were treated to some of the best racing witnessed this season as Steve Soper for the first time this year lead the race on merit, while Dan Eaves procured his first podium position as he passed the chequered flag in 3rd position.
Vic Lee, Team Principal commented: 'Although we are obviously pleased with the visible improvements that have been made, the results don't wholly reflect the amount of work we have put into these developments, and we are hoping for a better results board at Silverstone, Donington and Brands Hatch.'
For Oulton Park, only Steve Soper's number 44 coupe benefited from the full improvements that had been made, this weekend Peugeot will have both new and improved coupes making an onslaught that is sure to shake up the Championship. Dan Eaves, after his last weekend's victory has acquired the taste for winning, and will stop at nothing to get that all important 1st position in the BTCC, a place he has long dreamed of reaching.
Dan Eaves said: 'It was great to finally get on the podium last week, and it has definitely been a long time coming. Silverstone is a track that should suit our cars so the whole team are hoping we can really achieve something this coming weekend. The improvements that have been made on the cars are good, not just the speed but also the handling, fingers crossed for this weekend!'
Also BTCC fans will have the first preview of MG sport with their prototype pair of MG ZS EX259 touring cars that are sure to keep all teams on their toes, as they make their first appearance in history to the Super Touring line up.
The Silverstone circuit itself is a fast, sweeping track, which allows the seasons fastest racing and quickest lap times. The weather will always play an all-important factor for the teams, but with initial forecasts of a dry weekend, spectators should look forward to some awe-inspiring racing.
