Rounds 3 & 4 Qualifying Report
Vauxhall Motorsport Thruxton qualifying report
Vauxhall Motorsport's Jason Plato qualified on pole for Monday's first (Sprint) race at Thruxton circuit in Hampshire. The joint www.theAA.com MSA British Touring Car Championship leader went on to secure a third place start for his Astra Coupe in the Feature event, Monday's highlight 32-lap race. The Astra Coupe will start both races on pole thanks to James Thompson posting best time for the Feature race at the wheel of the Egg Sport Vauxhall.

Yvan Muller will start the Feature race from the front row although he was unhappy with the balance of his Vauxhall Motorsport Astra Coupe, but starts the Sprint - the race he won last time out at Brands Hatch - from third place on the grid. Vauxhall Astra Coupes fill the front two rows in each on Monday's races thanks to Phil Bennett qualifying the Egg Sport car fourth during the dry 30-minute session on Sunday afternoon.

Quotes:

Jason Plato, Car 5, Vauxhall Astra Coupe Sprint -- pole - 1:17.508, Feature -- 3rd - 1:17.611 "Overall I'm pleased with my times, it's good to be on pole for the Sprint race. The Astra Coupe feels good and there is only a small improvement I would like to make to help ride the kerbs better in the chicane - I reckon we could find another few tenths in there."

Yvan Muller, Car 4, Vauxhall Astra Coupe Sprint -- 3rd - 1:17.611 , Feature -- 2nd - 1:17.523 "I can't find a good balance for the Astra Coupe today, it feels like a different car to when we were here testing two weeks ago. It could be the lower temperature or different track conditions, but it means I must work harder on the track for a good time. I'm not too unhappy with the positions, a front row start for the Feature race is OK with me."

James Thompson, Car 9, Vauxhall Astra Coupe Sprint - 2nd - 1:17.553, Feature - pole - 1:17.419 "I feel great to have taken the best time of the weekend to give me pole for the Feature race. Jason just pipped me for pole in the Sprint, but I'll be able to push him hard from my front row start."
