Preview for Oulton Park Rounds 5 & 6
Over the past couple of weeks Vic Lee and his team have been working towards improving the speed of
their Pininfarina styled 406 coupes, after a disappointing weekend at Thruxton.
Friday 11th of May saw the penultimate official TOCA test day, held at Donington Park Circuit. Vic
Lee made a decision to take three of the coupes for his two drivers, in an attempt to increase the
track time for testing.
Vic Lee, Team Director said: 'We wanted to try 3 different areas of set-up, and using all three cars
really optimised the changes that were made to each, the drives were also able to increase their
driving time, and get used to the different set up's without interruptions.
Steve Soper put in the best time of the day for the Peugeot camp, producing a lap time that had
decreased the fastest Vauxhall's lead to only 1.3 seconds, with team mate Dan Eaves a mere 1.5
seconds off the fastest pace.
Peugeot fanatics should be in for a treat this weekend as Steve Soper has hacked away at the
Vauxhalls lead and is now only 0.3 seconds down on Phil Bennett and 0.6 second off James Thompson,
with Dan Eaves 0.2 seconds off Steve Soper's times.
Dan Eaves said: 'We have made a vast amount of improvements, and I will be hoping for a podium
position at Oulton Park. The Cheshire circuit has long been a favourite of mine, and I intend to put
this to my advantage!'
Unfortunately the two Alfa Romeo's were missing from the test session, apparently due to excessive
engine damage caused at Thruxton, but will be attending rounds 5 & 6 at Oulton Park.
