BTC-Production Class Preview
Focuses to top the bill?...

Vauxhall podium HTML driver Simon Harrison tops the table after round 6 with James Kaye of Barwell close behind him. Roger Moens’ time penalty at Oulton Park reduced what he thought was a sprint race win to a 3rd place, and the dropped points leave him slightly adrift of the 2 forerunners. A good performance this weekend will put Moen back in touch with his team mate.

With a gaggle of drivers in joint 3rd place on 36 points in this class, this weekends Production class races will be tense. Gavin Pyper and Gareth Howell both had strong results at Oulton Park. The Alfa 156 of Pyper is showing it is capable of competing with the Peugeot 306’s and will expecting to run well at Silverstone. Howell

Gareth Howell has had mixed fortunes so far this year, but the GR motorsport driver went home from Cheshire with a big smile having earned a trophy for 2nd place in the class feature race. The Ford Focus seemed to be handling well at Oulton, and it surely can’t be long before either he or Matt Jackson takes a first win, and are on a level playing field with the HTML Peugeots.

If anybody has made a name for himself so far this season, it has to be the championships youngest driver Tom Boardman. Despite his inexperience, Tom has certainly demonstrated that he has the talent to enjoy a potentially long and successful career in the BTCC. His driving style caught the eye at Oulton Park, and spectators were thrilled by his somewhat physical approach to racing tin tops. How he adjusts to driving in the dark remains to be seen. Boardman

The production class is still producing great action. Under the glare of lights will be no different. The sparks will fly – you can be sure of that. And with some of the characters that are involved with the BTCC this year, there are bound to be some unusual sights around the pit-lane and paddock.

**On a personnel front - Peter Cate will not be making any more appearances with Barwell Honda in the foreseeable future. He has lost his seat after Barwell cited “Sponsorship problems”. Replacing Cate will be Simon Graves.
