Rounds 9 & 10 of the 2001 championship saw the BTCC make its first trip to a circuit outside the UK. The venue for this adventure was Mondello Park in Ireland. Major works at the circuit enabled facilities to be up to the required standards in time for the meeting, and went ahead as planned. With only minor problems throughout the weekend, and with the facilities being rated as better than some of the other circuits visited by the ToCA Tour, the meeting was widely regarded as a success.
