Team Halfords: Team Halfords Bound For Northern Territory

Team Halfords, the British Touring Car Championships front-running Independent Team are this week preparing to head North to Croft in Yorkshire for rounds 11 and 12 of this fiercely contested Championship. After a challenging weekend at Mondello Park in Ireland, Team Halfords will be hot of the trail of points, so rival teams had better beware.

All three cars returned from Mondello Park with an array of war wounds, and the team will have to work frantically in an effort to repair them in time for next weekend. Touring car legend, and ’92 champion Tim Harvey comments; ‘Mondello was always going to produce some close action, and I was able to enjoy some good clean dicing. I think one or two other drivers were intimidated by an Independent doing so well and crossed the line of fair play, but I wont be bullied!’

Croft circuit in North Yorkshire has the potential for the Team Halfords to blast their opposition away. With the circuit’s sweeping esses and long straights, the wide wheelbase of the 406 Coupe should make quick work of the fast corners.

Current Formula Renault Champion Carl Breeze comments on Croft circuit: ‘It will be a lot easier for me to race at Croft, as it’s a circuit I know well, rather than at Mondello which I had to learn from scratch. Last year in Formula Renault I had a good outing at Croft, I was on pole, then won the race and also gained the lap record, so I will be hoping for great things this coming weekend.’

Team Halfords will also be appearing at the Max Power Live show, being held at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham this weekend. The distinctive orange and black 406 Coupe will be exhibited as part of Ripspeed at Halfords variety of displays, and is sure to stir up the imagination of modified car fans all over the country. Team drivers Dan Eaves and Carl Breeze will also be checking out the Max Power action on Friday 12th July before they head off to Croft, and will be on hand to dish out driving tips to young and old.

Dan Eaves comments: ‘Its great that one of the British Touring Car Championship teams will be involved with the Max Power show, there is an obvious connection between the two events, and I’m pleased that Halfords are pushing the Championship into related markets. The Max Power show is always hugely popular and this year boasts bigger and better things, so I’m really looking forward to being there on Friday!’
