Driver Quotes - Feature Race
James Thompson: Yvan has had really bad luck through out the year so this time he's happy. For me it was one of my best weekends of the year with the weight I was carrying. I couldn't go any quicker because we'd stopped early and in such a long race we were working the tyres hard and that meant 19 laps on them and they were shot by the end. We've set the car up with the tyre issue in mind and it worked out. I'm really pleased to get a good haul of points.
Now we're going to Knockhill with similar weight and there are lots of slow corners there. The MG's are getting closer, too close for comfort in fact but I'm happy with the pace we currently have.
Yvan Muller: After the good pit stop we had, I went out and had Matt Neal behind me and I let him through because he had no weight. But when he went through we were going the same speed and I found out he had a driveshaft problem. Also, my engineer told me that some cars were getting punctures. I could see cars in my mirror pulling off.
I am not interested in the championship anymore. Vauxhall are 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the championship. I have lost many points through bad luck. Maybe I'll win the title, maybe not, maybe I'll be 2nd or 3rd but all I want is Vauxhall to win championship, who it is, I don't care.
Warren Hughes: There wasn't any need to be defensive in the race. The pack was evenly matched so it was question of not making mistake and getting more out of car. After the pitstop Anthony Reid was quicker and he radioed in to let him pass me. I said no because I wanted to see the true pace of my car after the stop but I had to let him through eventually as he was quicker. He had the edge and I tried to stay with him. It appeared he had less understeer than me particuarly through Coram. But it was a very disciplined race and I had to drive cleanly and not get flustered. I thought the Honda would be quicker in a straight line and although I had to defend, I don't know if he had a problem or it was a weight issue but the MG was just excellent.
Tom Boardman: I’m very pleased. I think that was my hardest race yet and I’m happy to finish on the podium. We could do with a bit more horsepower out there with such a heavy car. I just had to hang on and make it to the end. Great stuff.
Gavin Pyper: The extra weight did affect the car. I was trying hard out there – perhaps a bit too hard at times. It was good racing though. There was no banging and it was fair. I was hoping for two wins today so it hasn’t been as good as I wanted.
Colin Turkington: It’s been another great weekend for me and the team. I wasn’t really sure what to hope for here, but we’ve come away with two independent wins, and two second places for Gareth. I was able to keep with the lead bunch on the track, which was great. I passed David Leslie and Gareth straight after the safety car, and the overall position was good. I didn’t have a great start to the year, but it’s great to be racking up points now, especially with the Independent wins.
