Driver Quotes - Sprint Race

Driver Quotes - Sprint Race

James Thompson: I had a great couple of laps with Matt Neal at the start. It was a great race side by side and we were enjoying it. There was no contact but it was close. I had a comfortable lead until the safety car came out and that disappeared. After the safety car went in, I picked up a gearbox problem. I was missing 4th gear so I was going 3rd to 5th on the straights which was not good! With the Hondas straight line speed and my gearbox problems I was glad I had a big enough gap towards the end. I kept it neat and tidy and hoped I wouldn't have any more problems. I didn't and I'm happy with that.

Gavin Pyper: That wasn’t a bad race at all. It was very eventful. I got a bit boxed in by the tourers at the start, but off they went out of the way. The BMWs made a good start to the race, as usual, and I had an oil pressure alarm go off, so I backed off until I knew it was safe. After the safety car period, I got past everyone except Tom Boardman, but the Tom drove on the oil that had been dropped and I avoided it. After that it was just a case of playing safe until the end of the race.

James Kaye: I made a fairly good start, and went up and down the field quite a bit early on. It was quite tricky out there – there was oil as Russell and at the Esses. The car is not the quickest here, and the 30kg of ballast caused a problem. Norman Simon was quicker, but I managed to hold him up. It was a good clean race, and I now have a healthy championship lead that I just need to try and maintain.

Andy Priaulx: It was a very good race. We’re pleased to be on the podium again, especially with the ballast that we had on the car. It carried quite well, and overall we’re very pleased.
