Norfolk is the next target for the Team Halfords British Touring Car Championship attack, as the front running Independents team heads east with confident expectations of a podium finish after their 4th placing at Croft.
The Norwich circuit is known and loved by many drivers for its fast back straight and slow corners, which are usually the foundation for exciting door handle to door handle racing. Team Halfords driver, Carl Breeze, is no exception.
As West Norfolk’s sportsman of the year, Breeze will feel right at home this coming weekend. The local boy feels that in-depth knowledge of Snetterton, his native race circuit, will give him the confidence to go for the trophies on race day. ‘I have been looking forward to racing here and I am confident that my 406 coupe will be very competitive. The key to a good lap time is making sure that your car can carry plenty of speed on both of the long straights, as this is where the majority of overtaking will take place.’
Fellow Team Halfords driver, Dan Eaves, will be looking to bury a few ghosts as he returns to this circuit for the first time after his colossal smash in 2001’s night race. Forever the positive thinker, Eaves quotes this experience as increasing his confidence at the sweeping circuit: ‘I never like to think badly of a circuit as it’s such a negative way to start your race weekend, but you do realise that if you can come out unscathed from such a serious high speed crash as I did last year at Snetterton, there is little left to fear!’
