Sprint Race Driver Quotes
Round 7
Gareth Howell: The throttle got stuck open basically. It was a 20 pence spring that broke. I had to lift the throttle pedal up with my foot. I came in to Abbey and lifted, but then at the next corner I just hit every pedal and ended up in the gravel. There was nothing I could do.
Kelvin Burt: It's gone very well all weekend. I fell off a couple of times at the start and I overshot a couple of times, but it's been easy to be quick all weekend, so I'm a bit disappointed not to have done better. The BMW was quick at the start but its tyres seemed to go off more quickly than ours. It's good to be back. I just got a surprise phone call and it was arranged late. I'm optimistic for the feature race and I want to get a good result for the team.
Rob Collard: I'm absolutely delighted. We've had such a bad run, and it's good to be back on the podium. It looked grim after qualifying, but the team put a new engine in overnight, and the rain fell in to our hands. If it's wet for the feature race then I'm optimistic, but I don't think it will be so good if it's dry.
David Leslie: It's a very good result, having come from 15th to third. It was a case of trying to work out which parts of the track were drying, and I kept moving forwards. It was very tight out there and the Production runners weren't making things easy either. The boys back at Team PSP have done a very good job. We have learned a lot and there are constantly improvements being made. We're not aiming to win this year, but to be on the podium, and we've managed that here. The progress has been superb and we've taken a big step forwards.
Warren Hughes: What impressed me was how adaptable the car was. The set up we had was for a dry race so I was pleased the car works in all conditions.
Paul O'Neill: Warren hit me at the start so it got me really fired up. I was third and knew I was up for a podium but then I caught Matt Neal up and his car was a bit wayward so I got past him. Then Andy Priaulx in the Honda caught me and was followed by the Proton of David Leslie so I tried to bunch them up so they were fighting between themselves which they did. Next thing I know Leslie nearly had me round the outside but I mangaged to hold out.
