Honda Racing: Honda Racing confident for Croft

Honda Racing’s British Touring Car Championship team is looking forward to this weekend’s action at Croft and the opportunity to build on the excellent performance at Rockingham in rounds nine and ten of the championship. Alan Morrison was consistently the fastest driver throughout free practice. The Irishman put in the fastest-ever lap of the circuit in a touring car and qualified in pole position. Honda Racing then went on to dominate the first leg (round nine) with all three Civic Type Rs finishing in the top four.

Croft has all the key elements guaranteed to ensure a weekend of exciting racing presenting teams with low-speed hairpins, fast chicanes, sweeping corners, and high-speed esses and all three Honda Racing drivers are confident of continuing their success having spent time testing and developing the cars at the North Yorkshire circuit during the winter.

Alan Morrison: “I think we could be up for a good weekend at Croft. We showed great pace at Rockingham and we’re hoping to continue that. We’ve done some testing at Croft and showed some good form so if we can do that again there’s no reason why we can’t be at the front again after qualifying.”

Matt Neal: “I’m looking forward to the weekend. We did a fair bit of work at Croft pre-season and the car was very strong. We’ve got a really good base set-up to work from, so I’m hoping to be right up there at the sharp end of qualifying. I like Croft. It’s a very challenging circuit with a few very quick parts so you have to be very committed.”

Tom Chilton: “After the testing we’ve done at Croft, I’m confident that we’ll have a very strong car there this weekend. I was fastest on sector two back then, so I’m looking forward to improving my sector one time.

“I think it’s going to be a strong track for us and we’ve got a good chance of beating the Vauxhalls again. We’ve been getting faster and faster all season and I hope we can keep improving on that.”
