Driver Quotes - Race Two

Matt Neal: I was suffering gearbox problems and was getting stuck in neutral which caught me out a couple of times. I had to be so brutal with the gearbox. I got hit on the first lap by one of the VX Racing cars and it bent the exhaust and put fumes into the car but luckily we’ve got extractor fans in there so they cleared most of it.

It was tough battling through the traffic but they were as good as they could be to be fair to them.

The tyres were as sweet as a nut from beginning to the end of the race. We took a bit of a gamble on the set-up in this race because we struggled with the set-up on the first race. I went for a mixture of my set-up and Alan’s (Morrison) but it was all sweet.

Alan Morrison: I’m back in the hunt for third place in the championship with three more rounds to go. I haven’t given up yet! It was a great weekend for Honda.

Anthony Reid: To be honest, I was disappointed after the recent performances at Rockingham and Croft but this is a different sort of circuit. It’s very much a power track. We don’t carry weight very well. The engine can’t cope with the acceleration. I’m very pleased with getting a podium as it keeps MG in the play. I’m looking forward to Brands Hatch. We tend to race better than we qualify so we’ve got to take a look at that and improve. It’s crucial to qualify well.

Yvan Muller: My water temperature went up and the engine stopped.

From a championship point of view, Thompson slowing right down means it’s still wide open but from a team point of view it was sad that he didn’t take the race victory.

I just hope that this year will not be like last year or the year before. I just hope that whoever wins it this year will not win it on luck.
