Team Halfords British Touring Car Championship team has claimed its second Independent win of the season in front of the bank holiday Brands Hatch crowds.

The two Team Halfords Peugeots were running on all cylinders, with radical changes made to the car’s set up in practice and qualifying. It was in the second race that Dan Eaves lifted the Independent cup.

After a fantastic start from both drivers, on the first lap Dan had moved from 11th to 9th position and Danny Buxton, in only his third outing for the team, had gone from 14th to 12th.

As the pit stop window opened and Dan came into the pits, a precise wheel change from the team ensured he rejoined the race still leading his class. Danny’s pitstop also went according to plan on the following lap and he rejoined behind his team-mate, second in class.

Dan Eaves found himself battling for 10th position against current champion James Thompson. Some brave moves from Thompson saw Dan pushed down an overall position, but remain class leader.

Dan was able to defend his lead from strong rival Independents and bring his Peugeot 307 past the chequered flag for a class win and 11th overall.

He commented: ‘It was great to claim another class win, the team have all been working hard and deserve the result. We will be testing again in the next couple of weeks to master the developments we have made this weekend, so we should be flying at Donington for the next round in two weeks time.’

Danny Buxton could not hold his second position after having to complete a drive through penalty for a rule infringement during his pitstop. He finished the race in 14th overall and fourth in the Independents cup.

Results from Race one saw Dan finish in 12th overall and 3rd in class, with Danny finishing 15th and 5th in class.

Team Halfords will be back in action again at Donington Park on the 7th September for rounds 17 and 18 of the Green Flag MSA British Touring Car Championship.
