Alan Morrison put in an incredible performance in race two at Donington to finish in fifth place after an incident at the start had seen him drop to the back of the field. The Ulsterman was once again plagued by the bad luck that has followed him all season. He made an excellent start to move up right behind the leaders but in the rush for positions he made contact with another car and span off the track.
Matt Neal had started the race in pole position but the maximum weight he was carrying after his race one win proved to be a problem and he went into lap one in third place behind James Thompson and Yvan Muller.
The safety car came out for two laps after the incident on lap one and the race got underway again on lap four. Yvan Muller took the lead from his
team-mate and the two Vauxhalls started to increase their lead from Matt Neal in third. By lap nine Matt Neal was under intense pressure from Colin Turkington's MG and as they started lap 10 he had dropped back to fifth with both Turkington and Paul O'Neill managing to slip ahead of him.
Tom Chilton had also made a good start and as the pit stop window approached, the youngster from Surrey was starting to stake his claim for a top six finish. After the pit stops it was Chilton who was the leading Honda Racing driver and subjecting Paul O'Neill to a serious challenge for fourth.
But it was Alan Morrison who put in possibly the best drive of his season so far to bring his Honda Civic Type R home in fifth position - the best of the three Honda Racing drivers. Tom Chilton finished in sixth and Matt Neal eventually crossed the line in tenth.
Alan Morrison: "Obviously I'm very disappointed to have been shunted off at the start. It was just my luck! I had another fantastic start but I span off and from then on it was a battle. The car felt fantastic and I know that my times out there today were good enough to win the race. The Honda Civic Type R was definitely at its best today."
Tom Chilton: "I had one of my best starts so far this season and my pit stop was fantastic. I almost took O'Neill to get fourth place after the stops but I'm happy with sixth. The car felt really good all the way through that race and the tyres only started to wear towards the end."
Matt Neal: "That was frustrating after the first race. I was suffering from technical problems after the pit stop and struggling for power. The car was really slow on the straights.
