Team Halfords: TEAM HALFORDS TOUGH IT OUT AT DONINGTON

Team Halfords had to battle their way through the penultimate rounds of the Green Flag MSA British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park this weekend. All teams and drivers frantic to gain further points towards championship honours as the end of the series draws near.

Both Dan Eaves and Danny Buxton had a fight on their hands, with expectations running high, as the Independent crown was still up for grabs. With the battle so close at the top, there was no shortage of paint swapping and door handle to door handle racing between rival Independents.

The two Team Halfords Peugeot 307’s were in the thick of the action as race one got underway. Both Dan and Danny were able to make up places on their first turn into Redgate corner. After completing the first lap unscathed both drivers put their heads down and concentrated on making up places.

Despite both cars suffering pitstop problems they managed to regain both time and places. The two drivers continued their effort for the duration of the 25 lap race to cross the line in 4th and 6th place respectively in the Independents cup and 11th and 13th place overall.

Dan Eaves commented: ‘I’ve added points to my total from that round and I’ll be looking to do the same for the last three rounds. The Independents Cup is still within my reach and I’ll be making sure I have that in my focus. It’s my title and I want to keep it that way. The car feels good, but there is still some speed to come from it yet and I wont give up on getting the best out of it.’

Race two also saw both cars have to defend and attack as the intensity of the fray heightened in the 18th round. As the pitstop window approached the team were ready for anything, and both drivers completed a sound stop.

Dan rejoined just behind his rival Gareth Howell, but despite every attempt he couldn’t pass him and finished the race as 4th Independent and 14th overall. Danny was also battling away, and despite an off early on in the race, due to a knock from Rob Collard, Danny bought the Team Halfords car across the line to finish as 5th Independent and 15th overall.

Team Halfords will be back in action at Oulton Park in Cheshire for the final rounds of the Championship on Sunday 21st September, for an action packed show down.
