Team PSP: Race report

One of BTCC's closest and most exciting race weekends saw Team PSP back in the points with Phil Bennett's strong finish in Race 10, but the highlight was David Leslie seizing and holding 5th spot for five laps at the start of the second race. Commentators noted Team PSP's strong on-track performance in both races, able to fight for position with the established front-runners. In Round 9, less than half a lap covered all the Touring Car finishers.

David Leslie: "The car is so much better now. It was great running on the pace in 5th ahead of the eventual podium-place MG in round 10, but I suffered a racing accident which damaged the cooling system. Just before half distance, I decided retirement was more sensible than overcooking the engine."

Phil Bennett: "Things are really coming together now. We had some great hard racing and I'm happy to have racked up some more points for Team PSP. "

Mike Carroll (race director): " I think we've now got a handle on the suspension and the speed's coming as a result. We have to tidy up a few things, chase away a couple of gremlins and then push to qualify strongly as well."

David Wong (Team Principal): "It's clear we can now take the fight to the front-runners with our new-found speed. Although the results don't show it, this was a good weekend for Team PSP."
