Rounds 25, 26, 27, Snetterton, 5 September
Despite setting a fastest race lap on their last outing, Team PSP had to
endure numerous challenges which prevented them showing their full potential
again on the long fast straights of their 'home' circuit at Snetterton in
Norfolk. On the bright side, Fariqe Hairuman enjoyed his best race weekend
so far with sector times close to those of his experienced team-mate and a
good run 'in the pack' during round 27 before a broken damper ended his
race.
Fariqe Hairuman: " I'm happy that my race pace continues to improve and I'm
challenging for places to move up through the midfield. The team has helped
me so much and the results are obvious. I'm getting closer to my team-mate
which makes me very proud".
Shaun Watson Smith: " We knew this was going to be a character-forming
weekend for us. Long fast straights are not our strong suit and on top of
that we suffered with accident damage twice. In the first race, an incident
with Hodgetts put me to the back of the grid for the next race. Battling
through the pack, I lost my splitter which slowed me up so 12th was as good
as I could do. We found a leaking oil cooler just before the start of Round
27 which the lads changed in record time but I still had to start from the
pitlane which didn't help."
Mike Carroll (Chief Engineer): "It was certainly Fariqe's best race weekend
of the season - he was closing on Shaun in some sectors . Other than that,
this was a race day full of problems for us; I was disappointed in the lack
of consistency in applying driving regulations too."
David Wong, (Team Principal): "Once again, I'm pleased with Fariqe's
continually-improving race craft and pace. Otherwise, it's been a difficult
weekend for us - we know the performance is there but the results are still
eluding us. We'll be going all out at Donington for the last race weekend of
the season."
