BTCC 2004
What was new for BTCC 2004?
- Three races per meeting
Three races instead of two at every BTCC meeting this year. That means more excitement, more overtaking and even breathtaking manoeuvres!
- No mandatory pitstops
That's right, the obligatory pitstops have gone. No more confusion over who is leading, who has pitted and who hasn?t. Just a straight race from the green light to the chequered flag!
- ETCC spec cars allowed
Seat, BMW, Honda and Alfa Romeo will all be represented with European spec machines on the grid this year. They run alongside the BTCC cars and compete for position outright.
- No production class
With a larger grid of ?top-spec? BTCC cars, the Production class that has raced with the BTCC since 2001 is no more. The result is simplified racing, with no ?race within a race?.
- Reverse grid for race 2
The Saturday qualifying session sets the grid for Sunday?s first race. The top 10 finishers from that race are then reversed on the grid for race two ? ie 1st place finisher starts 10th, 10th place finisher starts on pole. The result of race three then determines the grid for race three (no reversed positions). Success ballast remains the same as last year.
