SEAT will be the title sponsor of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship meeting at Knockhill Racing Circuit when the series makes its annual trip to the Kingdom of Fife on August 27th/28th.
The SEAT Race Day, run in association with Clydesdale Bank, takes place at Scotland’s National Motorsport Centre over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Last year the event attracted one of the biggest BTCC crowds of the season and one of the biggest television audiences too.
To celebrate the partnership, SEAT will have its new Leon WTCC racing car on display – which will be the first time it has been seen in the UK. It’s so new that it will only make its race debut in the FIA World Touring Car Championship at Oschersleben in Germany on the same day! Fans will also be able to climb aboard a simulator and ride in Gordon Shedden’s Leon Cupra R as he races to victory in last year’s SEAT Cupra Championship meeting at Knockhill last year!
One of the most spectacular corners in British motorsport, Duffer’s Dip, has been renamed SEAT Curves and over 300 SEAT invited guests will be able to test their driving skills on Knockhill’s new kart circuit.
Gordon Shedden, Knockhill Racing Circuit’s Business Development Manager, said: “We’re delighted SEAT is so actively involved in our British Touring Car Championship race weekend and that it’s not only continuing to support young British racing drivers but now British motorsport venues as well. We have taken the historic step of renaming one of our corners and we’re confident the atmosphere and spectacle of the British Touring Cars coming to Knockhill will be better than ever this year.”
Scott Dennis, SEAT UK Motorsport Manager, said: “Knockhill is one of the most spectacular motor racing circuits in the country and the British Touring Car weekend is one of the biggest events on its calendar, so it’s great for SEAT to be involved in a joint-venue like this. Having contested the SEAT Cupra Championship in 2003 and 2004, we consider Gordon an old friend and it’s a pleasure to continue to work with him and his colleagues at Knockhill. We hope a large crowd will enjoy a fantastic day’s touring car racing - and that the Toledo Cupras are the fastest cars through SEAT Curves!”
