Barrow-upon-Humber racer Martyn Bell is hoping for a solid return to racing in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship as the series heads to the North East of England this weekend for the fourth rounds of the year at Croft.
The Team AllAboutProperty.com driver took the chance to head to Turkey for a brief break in the gap following the third round of the year at Thruxton, and has now returned refreshed and ready to race on one of his ‘local’ circuits on the calendar.
Martyn has endured a tough start to the year with his BMW 320i, with the results to date not showing the progress made by the team in its second season in the BTCC.
However, preferring to look forward rather than back, Martyn will now aim to secure his first outright points of the year and also maintain his top ten placing in the Independents’ standings.
“I’m refreshed and relaxed after a break to Turkey with one of my sponsors,” he said. “We’ve had two bad rounds but now I go to Croft with a clear head to try and get the business done.
“We have the right package for a place in the top ten which is where we feel we can be. In the last two meetings we have got close to the top ten and then been taken out. That has been disappointing for us, but what has happened has happened. We can’t change the past and will focus on the future.
“We’ve got the pace and got the set-up, we just need that bit of luck that we are currently lacking. I have a job to do at Croft and this could potentially be a good weekend for us.”
