Team RAC enjoyed their strongest qualifying performance of the season at Snetterton this afternoon, with drivers Colin Turkington and Tom Onslow-Cole locking out the front row of the grid for tomorrow’s first race. Turkington set a time of 1:12.290 to clinch his third pole position of the season, while Onslow-Cole was just 0.190 seconds further back.

The second row of the grid will be shared by Gordon Shedden and Tom Chilton, while Fabrizio Giovanardi was quickest of the championship contenders, setting the fifth fastest time. SEAT’s Darren Turner will line up alongside the Vauxhall driver. Matt Neal and Jason Plato share row four for Sunday’s first race, ahead of Mat Jackson and Mike Jordan, who set identical laptimes in ninth and tenth positions.

After taking pole position, Colin Turkington said, “That’s a fantastic result for Team RAC here at our adopted home circuit. It’s great to be on the front row and hopefully we can have a good day tomorrow. We’ve been strong all day today and we’ve got a good, pacey car that’s good over a race distance. We’re really hoping for some dry weather.”

Tom Onslow-Cole commented, “It’s fantastic. Colin and I are on slightly different setups but they both seem to be working for us. We just need to do a bit of work to find the little bit of extra time that Colin has over us.”

Sunday’s first race is scheduled to start at 10.00AM.
